2022 Markets
In 2022, I had the privilege of being accepted as an art vendor with my local farmer’s market - the King Street Farmer’s Market (KSFM), in Boone, NC. That began my art market journey, and encouraged me to apply to be a student-artist with Student-Made App State. The summer before my senior year of college (2022), I joined Student-Made, an entrepreneurial club that was becoming popularized at a few college campuses throughout the US. For $60/semester, Student-Made dropped a variety of opportunities for art markets and pop-ups right into my lap. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the club, and it definitely wasn’t perfect. Nonetheless, Student-Made App State allowed me to gain confidence both in myself and in selling my art. While I had sold at the KSFM, Student-Made events were different, because they involved other people my age (who had less pocket money they were willing to spend) than the audience at the farmer’s market and because they were art markets rather than farmer’s markets. Some Student-Made events I participated in throughout Fall 2022 included: the Lily’s Pride Market, the Handmade Market and other small pop-ups around campus.
